My grandfather, Joe LoBurgio, had an uncle, Calogero LoBurgio who lived near Trinidad, Colorado. My grandfather was from Palazzo Adriano, as was his uncle, but lived in Marion, Illinois (near Johnson City in southern Illinois). As far as I can tell, he is the Calogero mentioned in your article. I’d note that Calogero seemed to be a poor, dry land farmer from the pictures I have of him. Two of his children are deceased and I think there may have been a third.

Thank you for reaching out -- I appreciate the information. The Illinois connection makes sense based on what I found. It also fits that he'd be a farmer, as many Sicilians came from a rural background and kept to that lifestyle. Feel free to let me know if you come across the Gallo name in the family tree.
