State of the DeCavalcante Union (Audio)

Discussing the secretive New Jersey organization.
5

The DeCavalcantes have received extensive coverage in recent decades as “the Real Sopranos” given their status as the lone Cosa Nostra Family headquartered in New Jersey. Kneecapped by indictments and cooperation within the group’s New York faction over twenty years ago, most of our current knowledge of the organization still stems from these cases. While newer investigations and other related research have clarified certain details about the DeCavalcante Family as they stand today, they remain enigmatic and much about their current operations is unknown.

“Mafia Bloodlines” returns with an audio episode exploring the DeCavalcante Family’s present status by analyzing recent information and drawing from some of their historic patterns, naturally with plenty of tangential commentary. While attrition and legal scrutiny, as well as Father Time, have no doubt impacted the structure, membership, and operational capacity of this US Family, contemporary evidence has revealed how mafia politics and time-honored relationships still inform the existence of this group. What that spells out for the DeCavalcantes long-term remains to be seen.
